Last season was a very successful one for our club with more teams than ever playing under uor banner and a decent haul of trophies also. Drumcondra AFC fielded 20 teams in total across all age groups and in various leagues. For the second season in a row our senior 1st team completed a double, having won Div 2 and the MMI Cup in the UCFLthe previous season the lads went on to win Div1 and their Divisional Shield in 2018/19.They were unfortunate not to win a treble, only losng the Challenge Cup final to a top VEC side on a 5-2 scoreline. This coming season will see the 1st team compete in the Leinster Senior League (LSL) where new challenges await, good luck lads. Our 2nd senior team competed creditably and finished strongly in Div 3A, the addition of several new players from our U19's/Youths means things are looking promising for the coming season.
On the schoolboy front we fielded 18 teams in the DDSL from U8's to Youths. In the younger non competitive leagues our sides are thriving and developing all the time. Despite the season being abruptly shortened due to the decision to return to a winter season, our U15's won the Toft Cup beating Donnycarney Celtic 3-2 after being 2-0 down and our Youth team beat Railwayi Union 2-1 to also lift the cup. The past season also saw two teams from the club compete internationally in the Barcelona Cup, also with great success.
As Drumcondra AFC continues to grow many challenges will need to be overcome but all committee members, volunteers, coaches and parents can feel justifiably proud of the strides we have made to develop a healthy footballing environment for local players, and we can look forward to the coming season with hope and confidence
